We are looking for an enthusiastic & highly motivated person to set up coordinate & deliver our project (“Pioneering Immigrants: Commemorating 70 Years of Panjabis of Southall “) which will record & preserve the heritage of the Panjabi settlers in Southall particularly in the 1950s, 60s and 70s & their contributions in the social, economic and political field locally and nationally.
Our project will recruit & engage volunteers as well as train local people on heritage preservation recording and filming skills, identify & conduct oral history interviews with key people who contributed to the social, political, cultural etc development of Panjabi community in Southall and nationally. It will develop a documentary film exhibition and booklet on the heritage of Panjabi community in Southall.
You will have previous experience of working with and reporting to a multi-agency Partnership Steering Group, working with heritage preservation and volunteering programmes.
You must have knowledge of issues affecting post war immigrants from the Indian sub-continent settling in the UK & of the role struggles and contributions of Asian communities’ particularly Panjabis from mid 1950s onwards in and around Southall.
You must also possess knowledge experience, skills & abilities, research methodology including accessing information & archive records, developing videos/films, documenting community history, interviewing techniques. You will also have a proven track record on working with & engaging communities along with volunteer recruitment support & training.
Excellent writing & communication skills are essential along with an ability to prepare documentation & materials for booklets & exhibitions. An ability to work to deadlines and evaluate performance is also essential.
Postholder will work for 3 days and must be available for work during evenings and weekends as & when required.

Personal Support Assistant – Health and Social Care
Rates: £8.25 – £9.25 per hour depending on experience for weekdays, up to £11.50 per hour for weekends. You may be required to work on weekends
Parvaaz Project – TAHA is a registered charitable organisation based in Slough that provides support services for families and carers of children and adults with disabilities. We provide bespoke one to one and two to one care working directly with families or through the local authority. We provide support on weekdays and weekends for service users with a range of disabilities. We are accredited by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to ensure that the support we provide is of the highest quality.
The support we provide enables our service users to access a range of activities that would otherwise be unavailable to them, such as; attending college, participating in work experience, going to the gym, enjoying social group activities and improving their own independence. This gives their families and carers vital respite time knowing that the service user is in a safe, caring and supportive environment.
As a growing organisation, are looking for candidates to work as Personal Support Assistants, providing social care support to our service users both individually and in a group setting. Successful candidates must have:
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Knowledge of record keeping and incident reporting
- Minimum education level of GSCE or equivalent.
- Ability to empathise with the difficulties facing vulnerable disabled people
- Self-motivation, decision making skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence and use of a vehicle
- No previous convictions preventing you from working with vulnerable or disabled children or adults
We currently have availability for full-time and part-time roles. Due to the nature of our work, candidates must have some flexibility regarding available working hours to enable us to support the vulnerable people we work with to the highest standards possible.
Please note that, as a CQC accredited organisation, all employees are expected to undergo a full three month probationary period, including induction, training, shadowing experienced staff members and mentoring sessions with the management team. All employees are also subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks and two references
