Health Education & Healthy Living


TAHA organises an extensive health education & health awareness programme to promote personal& mental wellness incorporating practical activities & sessions.

Our activities include:

 

 

Yoga meditation/exercise sessions

Fortnightly sessions addressing specific health conditions e.g.

 

• diabetes
• coronary heart diseases
• strokes
• cancers
• hypertension

 

Gentle exercise & games sessions

 

Weekly 'cook & eat' sessions to improve skills and awareness on preparing & cooking nutritional & low cost meals, different ethnic dishes, combined with talks on nutrition, balanced diets, food contents/ labeling, healthier cooking & eating options and monthly 'public demonstrations' at key community venues/events to connect older people from diverse communities through food & improve eating habits.

 

Our Luncheon service, available 6 days per week, provide freshly cooked Asian meals and we incorporate a daily 'take away' service.

 

We cater for people with specific dietary needs e.g. halal foods, vegetarians, gluetin free, reduced salt foods etc.

 

Our Shanti Centre will operate as a 'Healthy Eating Café' on Saturdays starting from May 2011
